The University Medical Center at Brackenridge is located at 601 East 15th Street (near IH-35 and Red River). UMC Brackenridge is the oldest public hospital in Texas and has long been known for its commitment to providing safety net care for the community, a commitment shared through SETON’s mission. It has long been recognized as one of the top hospitals in the nation. UMC Brackenridge is also home to the region’s first nursing residency program, and recently celebrated its 75th year of graduate medical education.
UMC Brackenridge is the only Level II Trauma Facility serving the Central Texas area. It is Texas’ busiest Level II Trauma Center, and the fourth-busiest emergency department in the state.
The nationally renowned Brain & Spine Center is engaged in pioneering research and treatment of injuries and diseases of the spine, brain, and cardiovascular system. University Medical Center Brackenridge has also been recognized as a Certified Stroke Center, a designation which reflects UMC Brackenridge’s reputation as one of the nation’s leading hospitals in the treatment and prevention of stroke.
